ARRL Field Day 2016
This year there will be two Field day locations!
The ARES group is holding Field day in the block house at South Park in Mansfield. South Park is located at Brinkerhoff and Park Ave West in Mansfield. For more details contact Danny w8dlb.
The IARC (InterCity Amateur Radio Club) will be holding Field day at Clear Fork Reservoir, (Picnic Area No. 3) Located off State Route 97 Half way between the sailboat club and the marina. Set up will be Sat 6/25/16 at 10:00 AM. Thought the Club has voted to separate the IARC picnic from Field day events, the plan is to have a “bring your own picnic” at 5-6 pm on Sat in the pavilion at Picnic Area No. 3.
Please feel free to stop out at Either or Both Field Day locations or visit any location near you and enjoy Field Day 2016. The ARRL Field Day Locator can be found here. http://www.arrl.org/field-day-locator
Club Mailing List
We now have Yahoo Group configured for IARC Members. News, information, meeting reminders and special event notifications can be shared via e-mail.
You must subscribe and confirm your subscription before you will receive messages from the list. No addresses will be automatically added to the list.
Once you are subscribed and confirmed a list moderator must still approve your membership. Hopefully this will reduce the amount of SPAM messages that we receive.
2016 Ham of the Year
On Thursday, May 5, members and guests met to honor the 2016 Ham of the Year. After dinner and fellowship, IARC President Bill Martin - N8TQ honored Harry Mains - N8XMI as the 2016 Ham of the Year.
Mr. Martin thanked Harry for his service and dedication to amateur radio. Harry is the current Treasurer of the InterCity Amateur Radio Club.
In attendance at the banquet were 13 past Hams of the Year.
“Paperless” Amateur Radio License Policy
Beginning February 17, the FCC will no longer automatically mail a printed copy of your Amateur Radio License. The Commission has maintained for some time now that the official Amateur Radio license authorization is the electronic record that exists in its Universal Licensing System (ULS). However, they have continued to mail a hard copy of the license.
